What follows are reports of colostomy procedures performed in New York State in 2002. Colostomy is a procedure to create a surgical opening between the large intestine and the abdominal wall. The surgery is done to treat certain stages of cancer as well as diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis. The report aggregates all of the individual records that contain the ICD-9 Codes 46.10, 46.11 and 46.13 in any procedure field. The total number of reported procedures is 3,373.
