What follows are reports of rotator cuff repair procedures performed in New York State in 2002. This procedure involves the suture of a rotator cuff tear. The rotator cuff consists of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, teris minor muscles and hold the humeral head in the gelnoid fossa of the scapula. Surgical repair may be required when the tendons of these muscles are seriously injured and torn. The report aggregates all of the individual records that contain the ICD-9 code 83.63 in any procedure field. The total number of reported procedures is 9,348.
